Fairfield decided not to give me the job, and instead wish to hire someone with several years of experience in IR. Oh, well...I've applied to several other jobs since then one in Texas, a couple in California, one in North Carolina (they reopened the position), and I'm about to apply to a couple more positions in Chicago.
In other news Mike has been promoted at Applebee's to a "key person" this means that he will be training in all of the other areas of the store. Yeah Mike!! He also had an offer to go back to Beef O'Brady's as a manager. So, who knows...
We have decided to stay in our apartment for at least another year, or at least renew the lease so we have the option. Other than that. I don't have any more news.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
I just wanted to wish DADDY a happy father's day!
And to all the Dad's I hope you enjoy the day!
Also I wanted to wish a belated birthday to my sister-in-law Jenny!
I hope you had a great birthday last week.
In other news, I've started packing, well not really... I've started cleaning stuff out so there will be less trash later. Because one way or another we will be moving at the end of July!
Here's the story about our trip to Connecticut last weekend. Mike and I woke up really early, but through no real fault of our own we were told along with about 10 other people that we had missed our flight! We checked out other flights to get us to the area, but with no luck we ended up driving. We drove all day Thursday and ended up getting there at about midnight.
Friday we had to meet the lady that would be my boss at 8:30, she picked me up from the hotel and left Mike with a lot of tourism brochures and real estate listings. I went to the University and had several interviews with different departments that I would be working with. I think they all went really well. Then Mike met up with me and two of the ladies that I would be working with for lunch at a local Italian restaurant. Then the one girl who isn't that much older than me and grew up in the area took us around town and showed us how to get to the beach area, since Fairfield is right along the Long Island Sound. We went back to the University and met with my boss one last time to finish any loose strings and then I showed Mike around the campus. To learn more about the university go to http://www.fairfield.edu/ .
Mike and I took a nap Friday afternoon and then treated ourselves to dinner at another local restaurant where we watched the Penguins beat the Red Wings!! hahaha Enjoy the picture of Sid the Kid and Stanley Cup Champion!
Then, on Saturday we woke up early and drove around the area to see different parts where we could live such as Bridgeport, Trumbull, etc. Then we headed to my parents to see Dad for an early Father's day. We arrived at about 2am and then enjoyed Sunday and Monday morning with my family, before heading back to Muncie. Fairfield is checking my references this week, and I may know something as soon as Friday!Thursday, June 4, 2009
It's June already
I haven't blogged lately, because it seems to be the same old stuff going on. Although, I can't believe it's June already, and we only have two more months left here in the Silvertree apartment. However, I do have at least one update now.
DAD is home!!! Thank you to everyone who sent their thoughts and prayers. I know he is very happy to be home, exaclty two months later after he left. He will be having an occupational therapist come in and I think a home health aid too?? (correct me Mom if I'm wrong)
As far as the job search goes I've had a second interview with the University of Louisville and I have a second interview scheduled with Fairfield University in CT at the end of next week. Other than that I haven't heard a whole lot. I have applied to a couple more schools just to keep my options open, but for now it seems to be a wait and see game. Let's keep our fingers crossed and our thumbs pressed?? (is that how that goes?)

Jolene Pastir, M.A.
That's right it's official (well pretty much) I've obtained my Master's Degree in Cognitive and Social Processes. YEAH!! Now what, well I'm still on the prowl for a job in Institutional Research, and I've had several phone interviews, but no takers yet. However, I think I have some good prospects. Mike is doing well at Applebee's and the Landing. We're both glad Spring is here so we can get out and play!
Dad is doing good, it looks like he will be out of the hospital in the next week or so, but will go to Rehabilitation for a little while before coming home. Still it's all good news!
Last but not least... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLEN!!! I hope you have a great day tomorrow followed by a Great MOTHER'S DAY on Sunday.

Update and then some
Well, I do have an update on some of the job stuff: NC is on a hiring freeze. I had a phone interview with University of the West and haven't heard anything back yet. I had a phone interview with Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY (which is fun to say) last week and I should hear something back this week if I'm invited for a campus visit. A college I applied to in Illinois has reposted the job, so I probably didn't quite qualify for that one. A school in Utah sent a letter saying they were moving there hiring to August through October. So, that's where the job stuff is at.
School is moving along slowly, two weeks of classes and finals week left and that's it! I will have a Master's degree. That seems really exciting :) However, I still have two big papers and one small paper left.
Mike is still working hard at both jobs and is excited that the batting cages are open again. With my job search and everything up in the air, it doesn't look like he will be able to join a softball league this Spring, but hopefully wherever we end up he will be able to get involved in a league.
As most of you know my dad had a major surgery almost 3 weeks ago now, to take out more cancerous lymph nodes. The surgery went longer than expected and since he has had a few complications, leading to another surgery on Wednesday. Making his total stay in the hospital likely to be a month or longer. This has been really hard for him and really the whole family, please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Quick...Very Quick Update
As far as the NCAA bracket goes I am second in the office and if U.Conn wins I'm the "big" winner. As far as jobs...I have had 2 phone interviews, but no call backs yet. One in North Carolina and one in California. I've been applying to more, another in PA, FL, and CA. Mike's doing good too.
That's all for now.
That's all for now.

Busy Week!
First of all, like Sarah I entered a NCAA pool at my internship office. I accidently forgot my bracket at work, so I'm interested to see how I did over the weekend. I'll let you know as a comment this week.
This week Monday, Mike and I are going to do our taxes- that should be interesting. Then Tuesday I'm presenting a poster at the Ball State Student Symposium, which I've done in the past. On Wednesday I'm going to try and go to a BSU fitness class-Zumba which I've taken once at the YMCA with Sarah C. and it was a lot of fun. Then Thursday and Friday I will be in Indy at the INAIR conference, which I'm showing a poster at as well. I'm pretty excited about this because I will be meeting colleagues in my field and networking. Also, I get to spend time with Sarah B. on Thursday night! Plus on Friday night I hope to hang out with my Sis!
On Saturday I plan on heading down to Mom and Dad's to hang out for the day/possibly Sunday too.
Also, I'm hoping to hear back from UNC-Wilmington by Wednesday of this week and hopefully I'll hear something about some other jobs as well, and if not I'll probably start applying to anything and everything.
